What’s really going on Beneath the Behaviour?
This isn’t a podcast about managing behaviour. It’s about understanding the emotional world behind it — in you, your child, and the people you care about.
Every reaction has a story. So does every outburst, shutdown, eye roll, or tantrum, whether it’s yours or someone else’s.
Beneath Behaviour is where we slow down and make sense of what’s really happening underneath those moments that feel chaotic, confusing, or just plain hard.
We look at patterns in parenting, in partnerships, in daily family dynamics that wear us thin. We talk about nervous system responses, emotional loops, and the beliefs that shape how we interpret what’s going on around (and within) us.
This is a space for anyone trying to better understand how humans work, especially when it comes to kids. Whether your child is neurodivergent, sensitive, strong-willed, or simply struggling… whether you are, too…
Whether you're navigating your own stress, your child’s big emotions, or a family dynamic that feels stuck, this podcast offers language and insight to help you make sense of it.
We explore emotional patterns that are part of being human - no diagnosis required. But we also speak openly about raising autistic children, understanding neurodivergence, and supporting kids who process the world differently. Because the more we understand what’s going on internally, in the brain, the mind, and the nervous system, the more clearly we can see what’s really going on in the moment.
Because when we soften our gaze and shift the story we’ve been telling, we start to meet ourselves and each other with more clarity, connection, and compassion.
And from there, we can begin to respond differently. Not to fix, but to move forward. To find what helps for you, your child, and your relationships in a way that actually makes sense for your life.
“Behaviour always makes sense if we know how to look at it.”
Hi, I’m Jackie Hall...and I’ve lived what we talk about here.
I’m a counsellor, educator, and founder of the Parental Stress Centre, but long before that, I was a mum in the middle of her own meltdown, unsure how to hold it all together.
That moment became the beginning of a deeper journey into emotional awareness, nervous system work, and creating tools that actually meet families in real life.
For over 15 years, I’ve supported thousands of parents, many raising autistic or neurodivergent kids, through stress, self-doubt, and complex behaviour. My work blends lived experience with trauma-informed practice, nervous system science, and compassion-first education.
Beneath Behaviour is where it all comes together — personal, professional, and everything in between.
“This podcast isn’t about getting it right. It’s about understanding what’s really going on so we can move through it with more clarity and care.”
